[edit] Introduction
The Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the many symphony orchestras in the world. The old building of the Philharmonic was destroyed in 1944 during the Second World War. Since 1963, it was headquartered in the building built by the German architect Hans Scharoun, exponent of expressionist group Die Brücke and organic architecture.

The building is located on Herbert von Karajan-Str. 1 area Potsdamer Platz in the heart of Berlin, near the Tiergarden.

The design of the rooms is based on the concept of music as the main focus of attention, with the stage in the middle of the room and the audience sitting on blocks of terraces that surround it.
[edit] Spaces
The building has two rooms. The main auditorium has a capacity of 2,440 people, while the chamber music hall has 1,180 seats.
