[edit] Introduction
In the suburb of Buenos Aires, where the ground is subject only to the road layout and the existence of a magnificent tree, is a joint project of four homes in the form of condominium. Of the four houses in the plan, known as briefly as A, B, C and D, only the last three have been built.
The building typology that defines the four houses establishes a harmonious dialogue with the sun, an undivided and available relationship that equally values the uniqueness of each one.
The B Hosue is oriented to the north, as the sun moves from East to West by the north in the south emisphere.
[edit] Concept
[edit] Zones
The entrance is a prominent element within the formal structure of the house as it not only acts as entry to the house but also as the central axis.
The dome that covers the house from end to end is only interrupted at the point where it has been reduced to create a more comfortable environment in the lobby of the apartment, from which one can glimpse practically both ends of the house and appreciate the extent of its spaces; spaces that are achieved by replacing one of the walls with pillars, thanks to the height of the central area.
From the lobby, one can go into any room of the house without going through any other where people could be doing other activities. On the left, the "night time area" with the bedrooms and a bathroom, on the right, the "day time zone" with the living room, and in front, the "service area", with the kitchen and a toilet.
[edit] Exterior Relationship
The house provides a direct link with the outside through the elimination of one of the bearing walls of the vault and the substitution of a few thin metal pillars.
The broad land on which the housing is situated and the fact that it is not isolated allows inhabitants to enjoy the garden of nature as if they were wild, and this is a fact that draws on all stances.
The master bedroom opens directly to the front yard, while the two secondary bedrooms reach it through the wide corridor that represents a space by itself because of its size. The living room, for its part, not only opens to the front garden but extends through a porch to the West, creating an almost perfect transition between inside and outside in the months of moderate temperatures.
[edit] Structure
The house is built on a rectangular foundation with a brick face and covered with a roof in the form of a concrete vault, under which a parallelogram of two levels acts as a vertical counterpoint.
One of the walls of the corridor disappears in favor of thin metallic pillars, becoming a transitive to the garden.
[edit] Materials
All materials used in building these houses are used to enhance their intrinsic values. Concrete, brick face, and wood are far from being concealed or transformed, showing all the characteristics of texture, grain and color.
